Preventing A Lost Pet
Here are some tips for preventing a lost pet.
Always know where your pet is. While at home, know if they are in the house or outside in the backyard. As you open the door, make sure they don't run out.
Teach your pet some commands, the two most common commands that most trainers recommend is "Sit" and "Come"! If you don't know how to do this, there are companies that can do this. Check for discounts from companies.
Check your backyard and/or their chain at least once a week, dogs aways dig holes and sometimes chew on their ropes. If you find the ropes partially chewed through or frayed, replace it with a chain. If you find holes, make sure you fill them in. If you have a wooden fence, check it for broken planks. By doing these simple actions, you can prevent your pet from escaping and getting lost.
While traveling to places that are unfamiliar, always keep your pet on a leash.
If your going away, leave your pet with a friend or at a boarding resort. If you check around, there is a good variety of prices, (check for discounts).
