Every Drop Counts!

Discover how to save water in Arizona!

Why is Water So Important?

Water is one of our most precious resources in Arizona! We live in a desert where water can be scarce, so it's super important for everyone to help save water. All living things - people, animals, and plants - need water to survive!

Water Fun Facts!

Desert State

Arizona is one of the driest states in the country, getting only 7-8 inches of rain a year in many places!

Bath vs. Shower

A full bathtub uses about 70 gallons of water, while a 5-minute shower uses only 10-25 gallons!

Leaky Faucet

A faucet that drips once every second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water in a year!

Colorado River

The Colorado River provides drinking water for 40 million people across seven states!

Amazing!

Your body is made up of about 60% water! That's why drinking water is so important for staying healthy!

The Amazing Water Cycle

Evaporation

The sun heats up water in oceans, lakes, and rivers, turning it into a gas called water vapor that rises into the air!

Condensation

As water vapor cools high in the sky, it changes back into tiny droplets of water that form clouds!

Precipitation

When clouds get heavy with water droplets, they fall back to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail!

Collection

Water that falls to Earth collects in oceans, lakes, rivers, and underground, and the cycle starts all over again!

Be a Water Hero!

Here's how YOU can save water at home and school:

Shower Power

Take shorter showers! Try to keep your shower under 5 minutes to save lots of water!

Faucet Friend

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or washing your hands with soap!

Leak Detector

Tell a grown-up if you see a dripping faucet or running toilet! Fixing leaks saves tons of water!

Water Keeper

Keep a reusable water bottle in the fridge instead of running the tap until it gets cold!

Dishwasher Detective

Only run the dishwasher when it's completely full to save water and energy!

Rain Collector

Ask grown-ups about setting up a rain barrel to collect rainwater for plants!

Plant Protector

Water plants in the early morning or evening when it's cooler so less water evaporates!

Water Champion

Tell friends and family why saving water is important in Arizona!
